The Dalton Lunch Club – at Dalton Street Centre is run by Highfields Church (on Monthermer Road), in partnership with Cardiff City Council. We are open Monday-Friday, 8am-2pm (except Thursdays, when we close at 1pm), and are here to serve the community of Cathays and the wider area of Cardiff.
We serve breakfast to the general public until 11am, and during this time our luncheon club customers start arriving. The luncheon club is open to Senior Citizens and people with disabilities, aided by carers if required. There is no membership for the luncheon club; all we ask is that customers planning to join us for lunch give us 24hrs notice or ring before 10am on the day. A 2 course lunch and drink costs only £4, and it’s half price the first time you visit. Do come along and join us!
Every Tuesday we have entertainment (spaces limited) and we are also looking to start a sing-a-long on Fridays! We are always looking for people to volunteer their talents, whether it’s poetry reading or maybe a musician to play our keyboards. Anyone willing to donate their time to entertain should ring the centre on 029 2022 0675 and ask to speak to Louise Newbury, who will arrange a meeting with the entertainment manager, Alan Knight.
Last year, a former employee and myself were proud to receive an invitation to The Queen’s Tea Party at Buckingham Palace. The weather was kind and we enjoyed a once in a lifetime experience. We were nominated by a local AM for the work we provide to the community.
Louise Newbury, Manager of the Dalton Street Centre
